Loado is a B2B SaaS startup platform that aims to improve the user experience of websites. It provides real-time metrics to identify issues on websites before they negatively impact businesses.
PROBLEM
The main challenge for Loado was to bring their product to market as quickly as possible and test its viability, while also explaining its many features in an easily understandable way to potential non-tech users. Balancing simplicity and functionality, the design had to create an intuitive experience for users.
MY ROLE
At Loado, I was the only designer who led the entire product design process from scratch to delivery. With my experience in user research, wireframing, prototyping, and UI design, I was able to play a key role in creating an intuitive and engaging user experience for Loado's product. As a strong team player, I collaborated effectively with our developer and product owner to ensure our designs met customer needs.
SOLUTION
I implemented a user-centric design process that placed a strong emphasis on simplicity and functionality. We wanted to make sure that anyone, regardless of their technical expertise, could use and enjoy our product, so we made it easy to understand and engage with. To achieve this, we incorporated clear and concise messaging, user-friendly features, and a visually appealing design.
To streamline the development process, I offered to use Chakra UI, which included a range of ready-made components that allowed our developers to write code quickly and efficiently.
PROCESS
To get a better idea of what sets Loado apart from the competition, I started with research on other similar platforms such as PageSpeed Insights, New Relic, and Pingdom. I found that these alternatives can be tough to understand, costly, more suitable for developers, and can be tricky to integrate. So I need to show that Loado provides a user-friendly platform that's both easy to integrate and use. This makes Loado an ideal option for individuals and businesses seeking a platform that doesn't require extensive technical knowledge.
Then I created a journey map, it's essential tool for addressing customer needs. The journey map gave me valuable insights into the pain points experienced by users: website speed, unexpected performance issues, Google search rankings and improving user experience. I also learned about our users experiences, including their initial uncertainty about Loado's capabilities, but also their excitement about how it can help their website's performance. While some users can find it difficult to navigate the different tools, they will be relieved to find that the onboarding process is easier than they can expect.
I collected insights and ideas to develop wireframes that lay out the design foundation. A primary focus was to ensure a seamless onboarding experience, create an engaging landing page, and present all metrics in a clear and concise manner.
After finalizing the wireframes, we used Chakra UI to design high-quality mockups. I had the opportunity to take the user experience to the next level by creating custom illustrations and animations that would engage and delight users. Additionally, I created a mascot to enhance the platform's positive and friendly vibe.
Creating animations was a challenging task because it required both creativity and technical skills. However, I found a cool platform called Rive, which allowed me to create stunning animations fast. It took me a couple of days to learn how to use the platform effectively, but the effort was well worth it. The custom illustrations and animations added a touch of elegance to the overall design, especially when combined with the mascot I created.
INRERVIEWS & TESTING
When the first version of the website was ready, we conducted testing and discovered that the landing funnel was not performing well based on the metrics we gathered through Mixpanel. To address this, I conducted user testing to identify areas for improvement, and then redesigned the structure of the blocks and reworked all the headlines to ensure that they focused on how Loado can help users, rather than just what they do.
A s a result, we saw a 30% increase in registrations. This experience taught me the importance of continuous testing and engagement with users to ensure the success of a product.
RESULT
Starting from scratch allowed me to create a platform with a user-friendly interface that prioritizes the website owners ease of use. Overall, my design approach resulted in a platform that is accessible to everyone, emphasizes usability and functionality, and meets the needs of website owners.
